Capital Pride Festival
"Are you PROUD to be associated with MCC-DC? Will you march with us and other local MCC congregations in this year's Capital Pride Parade? The parade takes place Saturday, June 14 in the evening. Let's make our presence known! We also need MCC-DC folks to represent us at the Capital Pride Street Festival on Sunday, June 15. Spend an hour sharing your passion for the church to festival goers at our Unified MCC booth. And while you're there, support the MCC-DC Choir making its debut on the GLBT Arts Consortium Stage! Do you usually participate in all the other wonderful pride events held in DC, such as Black Pride? We need you to represent MCC at these events, too! Catch J.B. Nassif or El Leech-Black by the refreshment table before and after both services. We are eager to hear from YOU!"
International Food Festival & Talent Show
The People of Color Outreach Ministry will be celebrating the diversity, pride and talent of our community at our International Food Festival and Talent Show on Saturday, June 7 at 6:00pm in the sanctuary. Tickets for the dinner and show are $15 and will be on sale in the fellowship hall after each service beginning May 4. If you are interested in performing, please contact Tony Curtis at acurtis157@comcast.net or Michael Peart at m_peart@lycos.com.
Dan Schellhorn Remembrances
On April 22nd, Dan Schellhorn passed away. His life and ministry were interwoven in the history of the Metropolitan Community Church of Washington, D.C. and UFMCC. His legacy and inspiration live on in so many of us. This site is intended for folks to share their stories and memories of Dan. To post a note, go to http://danremembrances.blogspot.com/. The memorial service for Dan will be held on Saturday, May 17th at 10:30 am. Please keep his family and friends in your prayers.
MCC-DC Church History Project
We are looking for volunteers to help develop a history of our congregation. Volunteers are needed to serve on a Church History Committee. The goal of the project is to document and tell the story of our congregation, through a written story, through oral interviews, through artifacts, and through any other appropriate documentation. We want everyone's thoughts/reflections on important events in the church's past. We also want long-term members/friends of the church (and even former members) to tell us their stories. Anyone wishing to be involved should contact the church office.
Families & Friends of Children and Youth
Children & Youth Ministry wants your child/young friend to assist with worship services on 2nd Sundays. We are looking for children and youth to usher, hold communion, read scripture, and serve God's people during the 9:00 and 11:00 services. The dates for 2008 are: 2/10, 3/9, 4/13, 5/11, 6/8, 7/13, 8/10, 9/14, 10/12, 11/9, and 12/14. To participate in this ministry, or for more information call the church office.
Mid-Week Worship Service
Take a break from your hectic schedules and join us for our midweek worship service in the chapel every Wednesday at 7:00 pm. Come and be fed by the Holy Spirit!
HIV+ People of Faith
Not your typical HIV+ support group: we meet every Monday at 7:00 pm in the church, not only to discuss the issues and challenges we face on a day-to-day basis, but also to explore the unique opportunities for growth that we have as HIV+ People of Faith. To facilitate our discussions, we draw on selected readings. For more information, please contact Matt Senger at (202) 546-2159 or email ndc20003@yahoo.com.
